Graduate Record Examination (GRE) 2019 is a challenging international level entrance test which is particularly attempted by aspirants who wish to pursue a specialized Master’s course or Doctoral degree at well-known B-Schools in North America(USA and Canada), UK, Europe, Singapore, AUS and NZ region. The entrance mainly assesses applicants on the basis of their Analytical Writing, Verbal Ability, and Quantitative Reasoning skills. This test comprises of GRE
Subject Test in addition to the basic GRE exam. The subjects are particularly for students who would have studied an undergraduate degree in those subjects. Those subjects include Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Psychology, and English Literature.

GRE is a registered trademark of Educational Testing Service (ETS) which is headquartered at Princeton, New Jersey, United States. GRE 2019 can be taken in two modes: Online and Offline. The test is available at over 1000 test centers across 160 countries across the globe. As a matter of fact, GRE scores are considered as one of the key selection factors for admission to grad schools and not just being categorized as a mere admission procedure.
GRE 2019 Eligibility Criteria:
It is interesting to note that there is no basic eligibility for GRE applicants with respect to age or qualification before they sit for the GRE 2019 exam. All they need to possess is a valid passport as a proof of identity for carrying it to the examination center. It is essential that candidates should fulfill the admission criteria of respective grad schools without fail while sending across the applications. Although the eligibility criteria for GRE is pretty flexible, yet grads schools look out for applicants who wish to pursue their post-graduation or Doctoral degree need to have a few years of work experience and an undergraduate degree in place to attempt the GRE and to move their career forward.
GRE Registration 2019:
Applying for GRE is very simple. An applicant needs to create a “My GRE Account’ on the official website of GRE. He/She can also access his/her scores in this account. Ideally, there are three modes to register for GRE 2019:
- Online Registration
- Registration over Phone
- Registration over Mail
Let’s take a look at a few steps to be taken to applying for GRE Registration 2019:
- Applicants need to create a “My GRE Account” on the official GRE website.
- While creating their profile, they need to fill in their personal credentials like Name, Date of Birth, Address, Phone Number, Communication Preferences, etc. They can log in to the ETS portal with their respective Username and Password.
- Applicants have the option to select GRE test type: (i) GRE General Test (ii) GRE Subject Test.
- Location preference and exam date can be chosen from the list of available GRE exam dates.
- Finally, GRE applicants have to make the payment of US $205 for the exam through any of the following ways: Credit Cards, Debit Cards, etc.
GRE Fee Structure:
As per the GRE official website, the GRE registration fee is about US$205. The GRE fees in India costs about Rs. 14,250(approx.) subject to change in foreign exchange rates.

GRE Exam Dates:
GRE applicants need to closely monitor the availability of the GRE exam dates. They have the flexibility to choose the GRE exam date per their convenience from the available list. Based on the GRE exam dates availability, applicants can plan their respective study plan and submit applications to the various grad schools before the deadline. Candidates can refer the below schedule for GRE exam dates availability and register online for the scheduled test date:

For candidates who wish to take the GRE 2019 exam need to prepare a personalized study plan as per their requirements and design it as per the GRE exam syllabus soon. The GRE 2019 syllabus is divided into three broad sections:
- Analytical Writing Assessment: This section assesses an examinee’s ability to critically scrutinize complex issues and analyze arguments and put forth their ideas reasonably.
- Verbal Reasoning: This section evaluates the examinee’s ability to read and analyze the written material given in standard English language. There are three types of questions under this section: (i) Sentence Equivalence; (ii) Reading Comprehension; and (iii) Text Completion.
- Quantitative Reasoning: This section basically evaluates the examinee’s knowledge of mathematical concepts like Algebra, Geometry, Arithmetic, Data Analysis, etc.

GRE Exam Pattern:
GRE General Test
According to the GRE exam pattern, the GRE General test is timed at 3 hours 45 minutes. You can check the table below for your ready reference:

The Unscored and the Research section are the two variable sections’ scores which are not counted towards the actual GRE 2019 score.
GRE Subject Test
The total duration of the GRE Subject Test is 2 hours and 50 minutes. It includes subjects which applicants might have studied during their undergraduate degree: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, English Literature, and Psychology.
Of late, the Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology test was discontinued in December 2016 and the GRE Computer Science Test was discarded in April 2013.

GRE 2019 Admit Card:
GRE applicants who have successfully registered for the test will receive their admit cards over email after a few days of registration. The GRE Admit Card usually contains details about the exam date, choice of GRE test, test center and an applicant’s name, date of birth, enrolment number etc. Just in case there is any discrepancy in the document, it should be informed as soon as possible so that necessary corrections can be made without any further delay.
GRE Score Validity:
The validity of the GRE score is for up to 5 years. The highest score/grade that a candidate can achieve is 340. We have updated the scoring pattern for GRE in the table below for your reference. There are three sections’ scores which are reported on the GRE General Test:

GRE Result 2019:
GRE candidates can access their non-official score instantly once they’ve successfully completed the exam, which they can either accept or reject. If a candidate accepts the result, then the score recipients or the universities that he/she has selected can view his/her result. The official scores of the candidates are made available to them in their ETS Account and sent to the respective score recipients around 10–15(approx.) days after the exam date.
